From 1989-93, Maryanne Marshall Marsaggi was a member of the Molloy College women’s basketball, softball and volleyball teams. She excelled on the court for the Lions basketball squad, ranking in numerous statistical categories in the program’s record books.
During her sophomore season of 1990-91, she averaged 10.9 rebounds per game (fifth all-time) and racked up 293 total rebounds (eighth all-time). She ranks first in the program’s record book for field goal percentage in a single season (.525 in 1991-92), while her 451 points in that same season are good for 10th in school history.
Career-wise, Marshall Marsaggi’s name is etched all over the program’s record book, including: third in field goal percentage (.485) and rebounds (990), fifth in made field goals (550) and rebounds per game (9.3), eighth in free throw percentage (.672), ninth in points (1,393) and points per game (13.1), and 10th in made free throws (293).
Marshall Marsaggi graduated from Molloy in 1993 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor concentration in Education. After commencement, she went on to complete her master’s degree at the College of Staten Island, concentrating in Special Education.
Marshall Marsaggi has been a New York City middle school special education teacher for over 20 years. She worked one year in Brownsville, Brooklyn at Thelma J. Hamilton Junior High School, before going to Marine Park Junior High School, where she worked for eight years. Following Marine Park, Marshall Marsaggi moved on to McKinley Junior High School in
Brooklyn teaching there for six years, where she was asked to start its Collaborative Team Teaching Program. Marshall Marsaggi left McKinley on a five-year child care leave and now currently teaches at BELL Academy in Queens, N.Y.
She currently resides in Middle Village, N.Y. with her wife, Francine Marsaggi, and their children, Benjamin (5) and Gabriella (4). She currently is coaching her son’s basketball team. Her parents’ George and Kathleen Marshall, and sister Patricia Marshall live in Brooklyn, N.Y.
