A three-sport athlete, Donna Mauro Newman was a dominant force in her time as a Molloy College Lion. She was a member of the women's basketball, volleyball, and softball teams while in Rockville Centre.
On the basketball court, she is the Lions' all-time scoring leader with 1,891 points, averaging 18.6 points per game in 103 career contests.
One of Donna's best years in basketball came back in 1984-95. Her 559 points is the most-ever scored in an individual season. That year, she averaged 21.5 points per game, sank 207 field goals, and grabbed and average of 13.8 rebounds per contest, all remain among the program's best. Mauro Newman ranks in the top 10 in a variety of categories including rebounds, free throw percentage, and field goal percentage.
Her extraordinary 1985 season continued on the softball diamond. Her .980 slugging percentage remains a single-season record. Mauro Newman's .569 batting average and 10 triples rank second for a single season. For her softball career, Mauro Newman ranks in the top five with 16 triples.
