In her years at Molloy College, Catherine A. Hughes made the most of her time as a student-athlete.

A two-sport athlete during her tenure in Rockville Centre, Hughes stepped on the hardwood playing basketball for the Lions. However, it was the softball diamond where Hughes etched her name into the school's record books. Her numbers in the 1985 season remain one of the best of anyone to wear the Lions' uniform. 

A .573 batting average has not lost its spot atop the record book. In addition, 48 runs, 30 stolen bases and a .621 on-base percentage all rank within the top 10 for single season records. Her 45 career stolen bases are also in the top 10 all-time. A success both on the field and in the classroom, Hughes was awarded First Team honors on both the CoSIDA Academic All-America and CoSIDA Academic All-District squads.
