Laurence "Larry" Steimer, a Bellmore resident and a graduate of Mepham High School, started at Molloy College in September of 1994. Larry had an outstanding college career. He started in 102 games and scored 1,265 points in his college career. Larry led the team in rebounding in each of his four seasons of play. He has left his mark in the all-time Molloy record’s book by being first in rebounds per game (9.7), second in blocked shots (43), second in field goal percentage (48.8) and fourth in assists (223). His unselfish play and great work ethic was just one of the many reasons that Larry Steimer was so well liked and respected by his teammates.
Upon graduation from Molloy College, Larry began teaching in the Freeport Union Free School District. He taught fifth grade for two years and has been teaching kindergarten for the last five years. In 2002, Larry earned a masters degree in school administration.
He fills out his days coaching basketball at East Meadow High School and baseball at Freeport High School.
In July 2004, Larry married his wife, Patrice, and they live in Lynbrook, NY.
