NCBWA Top 25 Poll | NCBWA East Region Poll
Wingate, N.C. – The Molloy baseball team moved up to No. 15 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Division II National Poll, released Wednesday afternoon. Additionally, the Lions remain as the top team in the East Region.
The Lions stepped out of conference play last week going a perfect 3-0 in non-conference action, picking up a victory against Caldwell and sweeping Holy Family (5-3 and 8-3) in a doubleheader. Molloy's 23-7 victory over the Cougars was highlighted by senior
Anthony Manisero who hit for the cycle going four-for-four at the plate and driving in four runs. Against Holy Family, junior
Patrick Sanchez put on a clinic in the field showing unbelievable glove skills and belted a two-run home run to put Molloy ahead for good in game one. In game two, senior
Gavin McAlonie put together a four-for-four day and drove in a run.
The cardinal and white remain in the top spot of the East Region unanimously, receiving all nine first-place votes. They are followed by Goldey-Beacom and Thomas Jefferson who are also receiving votes in the National Poll, with Jefferson receiving recognition in the National Poll for the first time this season.
The Lions return to conference play this afternoon as they travel to take on St. Thomas Aquinas at 3:30 p.m.
