How it Happened
- Molloy's offense got to work right away, putting together a six-run, five-hit bottom of the first inning to take a 6-0 lead. The scoring began when Mike Sweeney scored following a wild pitch before senior Sean Welsh doubled home junior Brian Sanchez for the first two runs of the inning.
- Junior Charlie Imhof scored Welsh with a single into left before seniors Jack Coogan and Jeremy Taggart put together back-to-back two-run doubles to cap the inning.
- Following a scoreless second frame, junior Jack Vallario connected for a two-run home run over the left field fence and Imhof and sophomore Seve Mulqueen doubled in a run each to put together a four-run bottom of the third to increase the lead, 10-0.
- The cardinal and white continued to see the ball well at the plate, adding eight runs in the fourth and one in the sixth to open the advantage, 19-0.
- The contest was scheduled for nine innings, but due to an agreed upon run rule after seven innings during pregame, the game would end following the seventh.
