Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The fifth-seeded Molloy men's soccer team takes on the sixth-seeded University of the District of Columbia Firebirds in the East Coast Conference Final Sunday, November 17 at 12:00 p.m.
 
About the Lions:

• Molloy finished the regular season 3-2-3 in ECC play and enter the final 8-7-4 overall.
• Senior Sean Salgueiro leads the team with 14 points, seven goals, and three game-winning goals.
• In goal, ECC Rookie of the Year and All-ECC Third Team selection freshman Callum Hunt has made 17 starts in net, picking up eight victories and six clean sheets. The rookie finished the regular season top five in the conference in goals against average (1.27), save percentage (76.4), shutouts (6), and saves per game (4.19).
• Sophomore Steph Maurice leads the team with six assists, ranking tied for second in the league. The sophomore tied a program record this season with three assists in a single game.
• All-ECC Third Team selection Nick Leon ranks third on the squad with seven points (three goals and one assist).
• As a squad, the Lions rank fourth in the conference in goals against average (1.53).

Against UDC:

• The two squads met on September 21, 2024 in Rockville Centre, with the Lions coming away with a 3-0 victory.
• In the contest the squad saw a trio of goal scorers, senior Diogo Ferreira, Salgueiro, and Leon.
• Hunt made four saves in the contest to pick up the clean sheet.

Recapping the Semifinal:

• The cardinal and white defeated top-seeded Queens College Knighrs, 3-1, in the ECC Semifinal Sunday, November 10.
• In the contest freshman Charlie Morgan was in on all three goals, collecting four points netting a goal and dishing out two assists.
• In goal, Hunt made five saves to secure a spot in the final.

Playoff History:

• The cardinal and white return to the conference tournament after missing it in 2023.
• The Lions have made the title game in two of the last three seasons. Capturing the crown in 2021 and falling in penalty kicks in 2022.
• Molloy has made the semifinal in their last four appearances in the ECC Championship.
• The Lions return to the ECC final for the third time in the last four seasons.

Scouting the Firebirds:

• UDC concluded the regular season 3-7-1 in East Coast Conference play and come into the final 7-7-4 overall.
• The Firebirds took on third-seeded Roberts Wesleyan in the ECC First Round and came away with a 3-2 victory November 7, 2024.
• UDC then traveled to second-seeded Mercy to take on the Mavericks and clinched a spot in the ECC final with a 2-1 victory November 10, 2024.
• The Firebirds return to the ECC Final for the second consecutive season, after falling to Queens College, 1-0, in 2023.
• All-ECC Second Team selection Ignacio Lopez paces the squad with 16 points (five goals and six assists), while Santiago Gordillo Martinez tops the squad with six goals.
• Molloy is 5-5-3 all-time against UDC.
