Rockville Centre, N.Y. – The Molloy men's soccer team battled the Hawks of Saint Anselm to a 0-0 draw Thursday evening at the Rockville Centre Sports Complex.
How it Happened
- The first shot on target came from the Hawks in the third minute that was saved by sophomore Callum Hunt.
- Molloy won a corner kick in the 10th minute. On the attempt, senior Matt Star got a head on it and forced a save from Saint Anselm goalkeeper David Hood.
- Four minutes later following another corner kick, junior Aidan Kolbe headed one on target but was denied by the back line of the Saint Anselm defense, keeping the contest scoreless.
- Kolbe would have another chance in the 21st minute, but once again would be denied by Hood.
- In the 29th minute, Saint Anselm generated a scoring chance with a strong shot that Hunt would save comfortably.
- In the final five minutes of the half Saint Anselm would total four shots, two which were saved by Hunt sending the contest into halftime scoreless.
- The teams combined for two shots through the first 15 minutes of the second half.
- In the 60th minute, Hunt was challenged once again with a shot from Zach Mantegari, but the netminder denied the chance.
- 14 minutes would go by until the next scoring opportunity, when sophomore Charlie Morgan created space and looked to break the drought, but the shot was saved.
- The road team generated two scoring chances in the 77th and 78th minute, but both chances were wide of target.
- The final opportunity in the contest came in the 89th minute when Kolbe took a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. The attempt would sail high and the contest would go final without a score.
Top Performances
- Kolbe led the attack with five shots with three coming on goal.
- Morgan totaled two shots with both coming on target.
- In goal, Hunt made five saves.

Molloy will take a week to prepare for its first road game of the season Thursday, September 11 as they'll travel to Philadelphia to take on Holy Family. Kick-off is slated for 6:00 p.m.
