Wilmington, Del. – The maroon and white returned to action at the Wilmington Invitational, ending the three-day event in fifth-place in the field of 12 Division II/III programs. On the season, Molloy improved to 27-19, matching a previous season-high number of wins. At the conclusion of the event, junior
Jennifer Bisogno was selected to the All-Tournament team, averaging 189.5.
Day One
- The Lions started the competition off with a bang, rallying from a 28-pin deficit to an 861-853 victory over the #8 Cougars of Caldwell University.
- Molloy took its next two contests, defeating #16 Chestnut Hill by a score of 876-785 before claiming a victory over New Jersey City University, 815-746.
- In the final two matches of the day, the keglers faced the host Wildcats of Wilmington University. Despite totaling a score of 900, the Lions fell by 53. For the fifth time to date this season, Molloy faced off against #3 Adelphi University. The maroon and white led by 39 going into the final game, but the Panthers squeezed out a one-pin victory, 956-955.
Day Two
- A second day of round robin play began with top performances from Bisogno (218) and sophomore Christie Warmingham (216) to put the Lions in first-place with a 951-764 defeat of Bloomfield College.
- On the back of a 199-pin performance from junior Kayla Dobrinski, Molloy defeated LIU Post for its second victory of the afternoon.
- The streak continued against St. Vincent's College, where Warmingham (203) and junior Carly Licht (193) fueled the maroon and white to an 876-819 victory.
- Molloy faced off against its fourth nationally-ranked opponent of the weekend, handing #7 Kutztown University a 917-802 defeat with 200+ performances from both Bisogno and sophomore Mackenzie Wagner.
- The 5-0 day concluded with a 204-pin showing from junior Marisa Clinton over PSU Altoona, 867-622.
Day Three
- At the conclusion of pool play, the maroon and white were in third place.
- The Griffins of Chestnut Hill College handed the Lions revenge from Friday's loss, 4-1, knocking Molloy into the loser's bracket.
- The Pioneers of LIU Post also were able to get retribution against the Lions with a 4-2 victory.
- In the final match of the day, the maroon and white knocked off the host Wildcats, 4-1, to take fifth-place.
Looking Ahead
The Lions will break for the holidays, returning to action in 2019 at the Blue & Orange Classic (Jan. 19).
