Five From Softball Selected CSC Academic All-District

Softball student-athletes Emily McGurk, Mae Savage, Mariah Cepeda, Alexis Montgomery, and Casey Kissinger were among those selected as Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators.
 
The Academic All-District program recognizes student-athletes for combined exceptional performances both in the classroom and on the field of play. Student-athletes selection to All-District teams must have over a 3.50 cumulative grade point average, have reached at least sophomore status academically, and be a standout performer on their respective teams.

McGurk tallied her second Academic All-District nod, graduating with a degree in criminal justice with plans to go to law school. The senior started in 48 games at third base with a .973 fielding percentage, ending the season fourth in the East Coast Conference in assists (101). She posted a .314 batting average, recording a career-best 48 hits with five doubles, two triples, three home runs, and 23 RBI, ending her college career on a 12-game hit streak.

Savage collected her first career Academic All-District selection in her final season with the cardinal and white. The San Diego native started in 49 games, splitting time between second base and left field. She averaged .314 at the plate leading the offense with 54 hits, including four doubles, a triple, and 23 RBI. Savage graduated with a degree in childhood education with plans to return to California to start her teaching career in the fall.

Cepeda was named All-Conference Second Team in 2026 and earns her first Academic All-District selection. The catcher made 40 appearances behind the plate where she closed out the season throwing out 11 base runners, marking her second in the East Coast Conference and 35th in Division II in catching runners stealing. She drove in 14 runs on 28 hits, seven doubles, and a grand slam while hitting .250. Cepeda will return for her senior season pursuing a degree in biology.

Montgomery is now also a two-time Academic All-District performer. She appeared in all 50 games in right field, leading the team with a .363 batting average and .820 on base percentage, totaling 49 hits, two doubles, a triple, 14 walks, and 10 RBI. Montgomery is pursuing a degree in marketing.

Kissinger earned her first Academic All-District selection this season while pursuing a degree in nursing. The sophomore started in all 50 games at short stop in 2026, posting a .254 batting average on 30 hits, 5 doubles, one triple, and 16 RBI. She finished the 2026 season third in the East Coast Conference in assists with 104, and second in fielding double plays with 11.
