About Molloy:
  • The Lions come into the final week of January 6-13 overall and 4-4 in East Coast Conference play.
  • Molloy went 1-1 last week, topping St. Thomas Aquinas, 71-64, Wednesday, January 21 before falling to Mercy, 71-54, Saturday, January 24.
  • In the victory over the Spartans, senior Colleen McCullagh tallied a game -high 23 points while adding five rebounds, three assists, and two steals, senior Sophia Yearwood collected 18 points on the back of four three-point field goals, and freshman Sharmeela Ugbogbo matched a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with nine points.
District of Columbia:
  • The Firebirds hold a 7-11 overall record and are 3-5 in league play.
  • District of Columbia went 1-0 last week, taking down Roberts Wesleyan, 64-55, Wednesday January 21.
  • Aiyanna Ellis leads the squad averaging 12.9 points and 8.3 rebounds per game while shooting 41 percent from the field.
  • The Lions and Firebirds met twice last season with the Lions picking up two wins, most recently a 66-57 triumph on March 1, 2025.
  • Molloy is 9-17 all-time against District of Columbia.
Staten Island:
  • The Dolphins enter the week 7-13 overall and 3-5 against ECC opponents.
  • Staten Island went 0-2 last week, dropping two tightknit contests to Caldwell, 67-64, Tuesday, January 20 and Roberts Wesleyan, 75-74, Saturday, January 24.
  • The squad hoists three players averaging over 10 points per game: Kyra Rose (13.9), Shonyae Edmonds (10.5), and Racky Kane (10.2). Rose leads the team in points, rebounds (7.7) and field goal percentage (48%).
  • The two programs split its pair of conference matchups last season, but the Lions prevailed in its most recent matchup against the Dolphins, 69-45, February 26, 2025.
  • Molloy is 6-4 all-time against Staten Island.

Concerning the Lions:
  • Molloy kicks off the end of January 4-14 overall and 4-4 in East Coast Conference play.
  • The Lions went 1-1 last week, falling to St. Thomas Aquinas, 104-74, Wednesday, January 21 before topping Mercy, 81-56, Saturday, January 24.
  • In the victory over the Mavericks, junior Jared Weakly set a new single-game record nine blocks while totaling a 21-point, 13-rebound double-double. Sophomore Dylan Kopp netted a career-high 25 points on the back of 50 percent shooting and junior Chris Stokel collected 16 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists.
 District of Columbia:
  • The Firebirds hoist a 3-13 overall record and are 2-6 against ECC competition.
  • District of Columbia went 1-0 last week, defeating Roberts Wesleyan, 85-74, Wednesday January 21.
  • Rejuan Gray leads all scorers averaging 12.6 points per game while Oliver Spence tops the team shooting 53.6 percent from the field.
  • The Lions picked up two victories against the Firebirds last season. In their most recent meeting, Molloy triumphed, 108-78, March 1, 2025.
  • Molloy is 18-10 all-time against District of Columbia.
 Staten Island:
  • The Dolphins are 15-5 overall and 6-2 in league play.
  • Staten Island went 1-0 last week, picking up a 93-73 victory over Roberts Wesleyan Saturday, January 24.
  • Aaron Goldstein tops the squad averaging 21.5 points per game good for second in the East Coast Conference. Teammate Asa Kone tops the league shooting 61 percent from the floor while ranking fourth in the league in rebounds per game (7.7).
  • The Lions fell to the Dolphins in both conference matchups last season, most recently a 96-92 defeat February 26, 2025.
  • Molloy is 2-6 all-time against Staten Island.
 Track and Field
Friday January 30 – Saturday, January 31 at John Thomas Terrier Classic – Boston, Mass.
 
Regarding Molloy:
  • The Lions return to the track after competing at the Dr. Sander Scorcher Invite hosted by Columbia University.
  • The women's team saw another program record fall as graduate student Marie Naudus set a new-program record in the mile running a time of 5:05.48. Naudus' effort placed her in 14th topping all Division II runners.
  • On the men's side, David Crews (long jump, 6.93; 60-meter, 7.10), Ryan Lepre (400-meter, 52.22), Gabriel Adimoolah (800-meter, 2:05.34), and Jack Vahey (800-meter, 2:05.91) all set personal-bests.
