Weakly Named Defensive Player of the Week; Three Selected to Honor Roll

After averaging a double-double and setting the single-game blocks record, junior Jared Weakly was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week Monday afternoon. Additionally, senior Colleen McCullagh and freshmen Chase Timberlake and Sharmeela Ugbogbo were named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Weakly anchored the Molloy defense in a 1-1 week. On Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas, the junior brought down nine defensive rebounds on top of blocking six shots and swiping two steals. In Saturday's victory over Mercy, Weakly set a single-game program record nine blocks while totaling a double-double where he netted 21 points and brought down 13 rebounds while shooting 64 percent from the floor (9-of-14). To cap the week, Weakly averaged 14.5 points, 11 rebounds, 7.5 blocks, and two steals per game.
 
McCullagh totaled 41 points in a 2-0 week for the Lions. The senior topped 20 points for the 11th time this season against STAC, netting 23 on a .421 shooting percentage. She followed it up with a team-high 18 points against Mercy. On the week, the forward also tallied nine rebounds, three assists, and two steals.
 
Timberlake continued to grow this week for Molloy. The freshman totaled a career-high 26 points while shooting 61 percent from the floor (11-of-18 ) and securing nine rebounds on Wednesday at St. Thomas Aquinas. On Saturday against Mercy, the rookie collected 10 points and eight rebounds in the 81-56 triumph. On the week, Timberlake averaged 18 points, 8.5 rebounds and one steal per game while shooting 50 percent from the field.
 
Ugbogbo totaled 22 rebounds, 12 points, five assists, five blocks, and four steals in a 2-0 week for the Lions. The freshman shot 57 percent from the floor and averaged 11 rebounds per game. Against STAC, she matched a career-high 18 rebounds and four assists before matching a career-high three steals against Mercy to end the week.
