Indoor Track and Field Opens 2026 With Two New Records

1/10/2026 9:45:00 AM

Staten Island, N.Y. - The Molloy track and field programs returned to action for the 2026 portion of its schedule yesterday at the Spartan Invitational, hosted by St. Thomas Aquinas at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.

For the second-straight meet, the men's team established a new program-record in the weight throw. Junior Amir Carter-Thomas recorded a throw of 13.90 meters, besting the mark set by freshman teammate Djurabe Edmond just a month ago by nearly a full meter. Edmond also bested his own record, finishing right behind Carter-Thomas at 13.85 meters.

On the women's side, the distance medley relay team of seniors Kathleen Healy and Alaysia Cobb, graduate student Marie Naudus, and freshman Martina Mileti not only took first-place, but shattered the previous program-record by nearly 30 seconds, clocking in at 12:36.98.

The Lions saw top placing performances from Healy in the 3000-meter, placing second with a time of 10:18.28, sophomore Sophia Hines, who finished third in the triple jump with a leap of 11.02 meters, and junior David Crews, finishing fourth in the long jump at 6.68 meters.

Molloy had personal-best performances from the following:  Both programs return to the Ocean Breeze Complex on Saturday (Jan. 17) for the Wagner Invitational beginning at 10:00 a.m.
