Gianna Zawol earned Rookie of the Week for the first time in her career. Additionally, graduate student
Julia Zalta of the Molloy women's volleyball team was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Muñoz was crucial in Molloy's 1-0-1 week, making a pair of starts in goal. The junior totaled six saves, with five coming in the second half to help the Lions collect a 3-1 victory over #7 Franklin Pierce on Wednesday. In Saturday's 2-2 draw against Mercy, Muñoz tallied a season-high seven saves, including a crucial save in the final three minutes to secure the tie.
Zawol put together a breakout week as part of the Lions' backline of defense that went 1-0-1. The freshman netted her first goal of her career, which served as the game-winner against #7 Franklin Pierce while playing all 90 minutes on Wednesday. On Saturday against Mercy, she collected her first career assist that helped bring the Lions back from behind to draw 2-2 with the Mavericks. On the week, Zawol totaled three points (one goal and one assist) in 146 minutes on the pitch.
Zalta put up a line of 70 assists, 36 digs, 19 kills, nine aces, and eight blocks. The graduate student had two double-doubles on the week with 21 assists and 13 digs at Pace before adding 14 assists and 10 digs at American International. She closed the week by matching a career-high seven service aces in a win over the University of Bridgeport.
