Outdoor Track and Field Sets Five Records at ECC Championship

Rochester, N.Y. - The outdoor track and field teams competed at the 2025 East Coast Conference Championship this afternoon at Roberts Wesleyan University. The women's team placed third in the field of eight with a total of 69 points while the men finished in sixth with 61 points.

The Lions were paced by program-record performances by senior Sabrina Spezia in the 1500-meter (4:42.53), junior Kathleen Healy in the 10000-meter (39:45.95), and senior Luke Jarski in the 800-meter (1:53.52). Healy, Spezia, senior Megan Sohl, and freshman Carli Sheiffele combined for program-record time of 9:56.57 in the 4x800-meter relay while Jarski ran with senior Christian Canela and freshmen Raymar Duncan and Michaeld Jones to a record time of 3:19.69 in the 4x800-meter.

The program also earned All-Conference distinction in 15 different events:
  • Freshman Sophia Hines earned First Team in the 100-meter with a second-place time of 12.32. She also was a member of the second-place 4x100-meter relay with freshmen Julianna Roan, Kameryn Drakes, and Lexi Martoscia. The time of 48.89 was good for Second Team.
  • Spezia in both the 1500-meter and the 5000-meter (18:30.29), finishing second in both events for a First Team nod. The 4x800-meter team of Spezia, Healy, Sohl, and Sheiffele were also named All-ECC Second Team for their second-place finish.
  • Coll was also named to the Second Team with a third-place distance of 10.42 meters in the triple jump.
  • The men's 4x400 meter team of Canela, Jarski, Jones, and Duncan won the event and was named First Team. Canela earned a First Team selection as an individual in the 400-meter with a second-place time of 49.60. Duncan followed in fourth-place with a time of 50.95 for Second Team. Jarksi and Jones both earned individual All-Conference nods as well with Jarski's second-place First Team performance in the 800-meter and Jones taking fourth in the 200-meter with a time of 22.14 for Second Team.
  • Senior James Nichol placed third in the 10000-meter with a time of 36:16.25 for Second Team.
  • Sheiffele added a second-place finish in the steeplechase for First Team.
  • Sophomore Jason Ferguson rounded out the All-Conference performances with a second-place distance (First Team) of 12.20 meters in the triple jump.
