Collegeville, Pa. - Both the men's and women's outdoor track and field teams had a record-setting weekend at the Ursinus Track & Field Festival.
Senior
Luke Jarski ran a new program-record time in the 400-meter, finishing fifth in the field of 60 with a time of 49.56. The record replaces one set by
Schnyder Germain .08 seconds slower at the 2023 East Coast Conference Championship meet.
Jarski then teamed up with senior
Christian Canela and freshmen
Raymar Duncan and
Michael Jones to set the program-record in the 4x400-meter relay. The time of 3:20.72 was good for second-place overall in a field of 27 and is nearly a full two second faster than the rate set by the previous team, which included Canela, at Penn Relays in 2023.
On the women's side, the duo of senior
Sabrina Spezia and junior
Kathleen Healy continued to set records for the Lions. Healy finished second in the 5000-meter in a field of 26. Her time of 18:18.77 is over 10 second faster than the record that was set by Spezia just last weekend.
Spezia kept her name in the record books, however, by running a program-record time of 4:50.55 in the 1500-meter. The time, good for second in the field of 59, is nearly nine seconds quicker than the previous record set by Kaitlyn Mohr in 2021.
The teams also saw personal-best times from:
The teams will split up next weekend with some attending the Silfen Invite at Connecticut College on Friday (Apr. 11) and others attending the Wilton Wright Invitational at Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday (Apr. 12).
