The outdoor track and field teams had a busy weekend, splitting up to compete at both the Monmouth University Season Opener as well as the Ramapo Invitational.
The women's team highlighted the weekend, setting four new program records in the process. Freshman
Sophia Hines set new records both on the track and in the field, taking home sixth-place in the triple jump with a record leap of 11.38 meters and third in the 100-meter with a record time of 12.22. Fellow freshman
Carli Sheiffele also etched her name in the record book with a 11:49.30 time in the steeplechase, good for fourth in the race. Finally, senior
Sabrina Spezia ran a record time of 18:29.35 in the 5000-meter, finishing sixth.
At Monmouth, the women's team also saw personal-bests from freshman
Lexi Martoscia (100m, 12.94; 200m, 27.10) and sophomore
Marygrace Coll (high jump, 1.55m). At the Ramapo site, personal-bests were set by: freshmen
Julianna Roan (100m, 13.00; 100mH, 16.77) and
Kameryn Drakes (200m, 28.22), as well as sophomore
Jules Vega (400m, 1:09.05).
On the men's side, sophomore
Mark Siebenhuener (100m, 11.34), freshman
Raymar Duncan (200m, 23.07), and senior
Christian Canela (200m, 22.58) each set personal-bests. The Ramapo site saw PRs from freshmen Kenderick Danso (100m, 11.30),
Quinten John (100m, 11.43),
Gabriel Adimoolah (800m, 2:05.49), and
Timothy Harrington (5000m, 16:51.51) as well as sophomores
Marcus Fasano (hammer, 34.14m) and
Amir Carter-Thomas (hammer, 32.09m) and senior
James Nichol (10000m, 35:20.49).
Both teams will return to action next weekend at the Ursinus Festival on April 4 and 5 from Collegeville, Pa.
