Women’s Bowling Places Ninth at Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational

New Castle, Del. – The Molloy women's bowling team traveled to compete in the Wildcat DII/DIII Invitational hosted by Wilmington University from Friday, February 14 through Sunday, February 16. After three days of competition the cardinal and white collected 12,212 pins across 70 games, averaging 174.5 with a 4-8 record to finish ninth on the weekend.

Day One – Baker
  • The Lions kicked off Friday with victories over Alvernia (917-813) and host Wilmington (947-891).
  • Molloy faced local rival Adelphi in match three. After falling behind early on pin count, the keglers made a push at a come from behind victory, but would eventually fall, 822-799.
  • The cardinal and white ended day one falling to Dominican, 938-856, to finish 2-2 on the afternoon.
Day Two – Traditional
  • Saturday the competition turned to traditional play. The Lions started with a pair of defeats to Kutztown (963-859) and Newman (1058-903).
  • The keglers scored second-highest pin total throughout the entire field in game three. Unfortunately they were facing Felician, who totaled the highest pin total of the third game and took the victory, 1084-1019.
  • In game four, Molloy faced off against Caldwell and would come up short, 955-896, but would finish Saturday with a victory over D'Youville, 861-839, heading into Sunday.
Day Three – Bracket
  • In the first match of bracket play on Sunday, the Lions matched up against Dominican. The two squads went back and forth trading game victories heading into game seven. In the final game, the Chargers would come away with a convincing victory to clinch the match, 4-3.
  • Next up, Molloy went head-to-head with D'Youville and the Saints rattled off three consecutive game victories to pull ahead, 3-0. The Lions responded by taking games four through six to knot the match at 3-3, going into the final game seven. In game seven, the cardinal and white would run out of gas and fall to the Saints, 4-3.
  • In the final match of the day, the cardinal and white took on host Wilmington. The keglers and Wildcats would be knotted at two after four games, but the Lions would win games five and six to clinch the match victory to earn a ninth-place finish.

Molloy will have two weeks to prepare for the New Jersey Open hosted by Monmouth in Hackensack, N.J. on Saturday, March 1.
