Hackensack, N.J. – The Molloy women's bowling team collected its first top-five finish of the season at the NJ Open hosted by Farleigh Dickinson University from Friday, October 17 through Sunday, October 19. Through five traditional matches, five baker matches, and three bracket style baker matches the Lions went 8-4 on the weekend to place fifth.
Day One – Traditional Format
- The cardinal and white began day one against the host FDU where they would fall, 1,026-941. Senior Megan Guarascio stood out for the cardinal and white, rolling a collegiate-best 235.
- Molloy picked up consecutive victories in matches two and three where they took down Dominican, 918-906, and Holy Family, 776-654.
- Against the Chargers, sophomore Michaela Palumbo led the way rolling a 209 high-game to give the Lions the edge.
- The keglers ended day one falling to Adelphi, 865-796, to finish Friday 2-2 overall, good for seventh place.
Day Two – Baker Format
- Saturday afternoon baker play started off with Molloy falling to Monmouth, 924-878.
- The Lions would rally off four straight wins to end Saturday, taking down Caldwell, 992-833, Chestnut Hill, 817-614, LIU, 921-884, and Felician, 914-868.
- Against Caldwell the keglers started red hot, putting together a 228 and 234 scores in games one and two to separate them from the Cougars en route to the win.
- In the match versus LIU, the cardinal and white came from behind 68 pins after games one and two and rallied off three straight victories in games three through five capped by a match-high 211 in the fifth game.
Day Three – Baker Bracket
- Sunday baker brackets kicked off with the Lions facing Adelphi and falling to the Panthers, 4-1.
- The Lions responded in the second match against Felician, topping the Golden Falcons, 4-2. The match was tied at 2-2 after the first four games, with Molloy triumphing in games five and six, highlighted by a 232 game in the match clinching victory.
- Molloy finished the weekend with a 4-0 sweep of Adelphi in match three to earn a fifth-place finish.
