Staten Island, N.Y. - The indoor track and field programs opened the 2024-25 season yesterday at the Youree Spence-Garcia Invitational, hosted by St. John's University at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Both the men's and the women's squads opened to great success with many personal-bests being recorded as well as the breaking of two records.
Sophomore
Jurrel Hall's 6.95 meter leap in the long jump became the new distance to beat. The performance earned him first-place in the event in addition to his name in the record book. The sophomore also had a 13.93 meter leap in the triple jump, good for second overall and first among Division II competitors.
Senior
Sabrina Spezia also set a new record in her debut meet with the Lions, running the 3000-meter in a time of 10:37.57, snapping a record that was in place for three years. The pace was good for a sixth-place finish.

- Freshman Sophia Hines (200m, 26.82 and long jump, 5.06m topped Division II competitors in both events)
- Freshman Ava Shepherd (high jump, 1.45m and long jump 4.33m)
- Freshman Sophia Hammond (shot put, 5.88m)
- Freshman Kendrick Danso (60m, 7.41 and 200m, 24.11)
- Freshman Michael Jones (200m, 22.87; topped Division II competitors and won his heat and long jump, 6.35m)
- Freshman Quinten John (200m, 23.34)
- Freshman Raymar Duncan (200m, 23.58)
- Freshman Andre Calloo (200m, 24.07)
