Staten Island, N.Y. - For the second time in three meets, the 4x200 meter relay record was broken for the men's indoor track and field team. Both programs competed at the Spartan Invite this weekend at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
The 4x200 meter team of
Gianni Macchio,
Christian Canela,
Juan Arango, and
Mark Siebenhuener ran a time of 1:30.49 to finish fourth and establish a new record. The group set the previous record time (1:30.66) a month ago.
Siebenhuener (23.32) and Canela (23.10) each set new personal-bests in the 200-meter race, paced by Arango who finished 14th overall with a time of 22.84.
Eric Anderson also had a personal-best in the event at 23.46.Â
Sean Wilde (2:40.87),
Jayson Emile (2:44.65), and
Frank Ferrante (2:55.79) set personal records in the 1000-meter. The men's performances were rounded out with PRs from
David Crews in the 60-meter (7.33) and
Emmanouil Paravalos in the 500-meter (1:08.93).Â
On the women's side, six personal-bests were set.
Isabella Fortaleza set marks in both the track (60-meter, 8.52) and field (pole vault, 2.90m) side of the equation.
Alyasia Cobb ran personal-best times in the 200 (27.96) and 400 (1:03.21).
Anne Jeanty also set personal marks in the 400-meter at 1:06.72.Â
Finally,
Kathleen Healy ran a personal-best time of 11:22.87 in the 3000-meter.Â
Both programs return to the track on Saturday (Jan. 20) at the Ursinus Collegeville Classic in Ursinus, Penn.
