Lawrenceville, N.J. - The outdoor track and field programs returned to action at the Rider Invitational, setting two new program records for the men's squad.
Sophomore
Eric Anderson bested his own record in the 400-meter hurdles by nearly a full second, finishing with a. time of 55.93 seconds for second-place. Freshman
Jason Ferguson set a new record in the long jump with a distance of 6.88 meters, good for fifth-place.
The men's team also saw personal-best performances from senior
Manny Fernandez (52.89),
James Nichol (57.12), and
Andrew Powers (1:02.66) in the 400-meter race as well as
Sean Wilde (4:22.30) and
Frank Ferrante (4:27.81) in the 1500-meter race.
On the women's side,
Samantha Latorre (28.32, 200-meter),
Kristi Ackerina (2:35.73, 800-meter),
Kathleen Healy and (5:13.38, 1500-meter) set personal-bests.
Jadalyn Rodriguez (17.78/1:21.10) and
Alaysia Cobb-Rountree (18.34/1:11.34) each set new PRs in both the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles.
The Lions also saw top-three performances from
Gianni Macchio in the 100-meter with a time of 11.13 seconds and
Antonette Pommells in the 200-meter at 26.05 seconds.
Next up, the Lions will compete at the Penn Relays on Friday (Apr. 28) in Philadelphia, Pa.
