Concerning Molloy:
  • The Lions hold a 3-0 record early on in the 2023 campaign. 
  • Molloy went 3-0 last week beginning the season in Morehead City, NC defeating No. 16 ranked Millersville, 5-0, and 2-1, Saturday, February 18 and took down Assumption, 10-2, Sunday, February 19.
  • In the 5-0 victory over Millersville, graduate student Jake McCarthy hit a three-run home run, sophomore JJ DeVito totaled two hits, two runs scored, and one RBI, and senior Charlie Cucchiara threw six shutout innings to earn his first win of the season.
  • The 2-1 win saw DeVito collected two hits, McCarthy drive in one run, and junior Garrett Scavelli scored the game-winning run following a wild pitch.
  • Against Assumption, DeVito, and juniors Chris Einemann, and Aidan Larkin drove in two runs each, and the Lions collected five stolen bases in the victory. 
  • Graduate student Mike Andreoli picked up his first win of the season, pitching four innings while allowing two runs. 
Bridgeport:
  • The Purple Knights will begin the season this weekend, opening up against Molloy.
  • The two teams met three times a year ago, with the Lions sweeping the three-game series.
  • Molloy is 52-31 all-time against Bridgeport.
Wilmington:
  • The Wildcats start the 2023 campaign this weekend in Myrtle Beach.
  • The Lions defeated the Wildcats last season in Myrtle Beach, 10-5, February 26, 2022.
  • Molloy is 5-8 all-time against Wilmington.
New Haven:
  • The Chargers will open the 2023 season this weekend in Myrtle Beach.
  • The Lions and Chargers met last season with the Lions falling, 8-3, April 20, 2022.
  • Molloy is 13-22 all-time against New Haven.

Regarding the Lions:
  • Molloy enters the week 5-18 overall and 4-10 in conference play.
  • The Lions have not been in action since defeating Staten Island, 44-39, Saturday, February 11. 
  • Junior Trinity Hudson paces the team averaging 9.7 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. 
Mercy:
  • The Mavericks are 15-9 overall and 9-5 in league play.
  • Mercy went 0-2 last week, falling to D'Youville, 68-49, Friday, February 17 and Daemen, 69-59, Sunday, February 19.
  • Katie Wall leads the team averaging 14.2 points per game while shooting 88 percent from the foul line.
  • The Lions fell to the Mavericks, 52-46, earlier this season on January 18, 2023.
  • Molloy is 58-20 all-time against Mercy. 
STAC:
  • The Spartans hold a 18-7 overall record and a 10-4 in ECC play.
  • STAC went 1-1 last week, falling to Daemen, 77-68, Friday, February 17 and defeating D'Youville, 68-49, Sunday, February 19.
  • Erin Leary is third in the conference averaging 14.5 points per game, and fifth in the league averaging 7.7 rebounds per game.
  • The Lions fell to the Spartans, 59-43, earlier this season on January 21, 2023.
  • Molloy is 25-31 all-time against STAC.

  • The Spartans are 22-4 overall and 13-1 in league play, good for first in the conference.
  • STAC went 1-1 last week, falling to Daemen, 83-57, Friday, February 17 but took down D'Youville, 93-71, Sunday, February 19. 
  • The Spartans have four players averaging over 10 points per game, James Patterson (14.4), Devante Jamison (14.3), Jamal Barnes (12), and Antonio Vendola (11.2).
  • The Lions fell to the Spartans, 84-76, on January 21, 2023.
  • Molloy is 17-36 all-time against STAC.
 
Track and Field
Sunday, February 26 at Last Chance Indoor Qualifier – All Day – Boston, Mass.
 
About the Lions:
  • The men's and women's indoor track and field programs combined to break four program records and earn 12 All-Conference selections at the 2023 East Coast Conference Championship at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The men's team placed fifth in the field while the women's team finished sixth.
  • The Lions set program-records in the 60-meter dash on both the men's and women's side, with Gianni Macchio coming in second-place with a time of 7.01 seconds and Jenna Piller running a 7.97 seconds time for fourth-place. The pair earned All-ECC First Team and Second Team selections, respectively. 
  • The men's distance medley relay team of Sean WildeManny FernandezMatt Floyd, and Aiden Watson finished in first-place, earning First Team selections with a time of 10:43.27. 
  • The women's DMR came in second place, with the team of Megan Sohl, Alaysia Cobb-RountreeMaureen O'Callaghan, and Kristi Ackerina setting a new program-record with a Second Team time of 13:07.32. 
  • Antonette Pommells set a new record in the 400-meter for the third time this season, winning the race and earning First Team selection with a time of 57.73 seconds. The junior earned a second All-ECC selection in the 200-meter, finishing in second-place with a time of 25.85 seconds.
