New Castle, Del. – The women's bowling team competed at the Wildcat DII Invitational, hosted by Wilmington University at Bowlerama Lanes. The Lions completed the three-day tournament with a sixth-place finish.
Day One – Baker
- The Lions kicked off the three-day tournament going 3-1 in baker play.
- Molloy opened the tournament against Daemen, taking down the Wildcats, 887-817 highlighted by a match-high 215 score in game four. Match two saw the Lions defeat D'Youville, 827-714, with victories in all five games across the board.
- The keglers only loss on the afternoon came against Kutztown, falling to the Golden Bears in a tight match, 808-798.
- The cardinal and white ended day one with a 948-855 match victory over Caldwell. The final baker set was highlighted by games of 226, 200, and 199. The Lions finished the opening day in sixth place, 43 pins outside of the top three.
Day Two – Traditional
- Molloy went 1-4 in day two of the tournament.
- The Lions fell to Bloomfield, Chestnut Hill, and Mercyhurst before defeating STAC, 806-677, in the fourth match.
- Traditional play finished with the cardinal and white falling to host Wilmington, 974-889.
- Sophomore Jessica Portela led the Lions, collecting 961 pins to average 192.2 on the afternoon, good for 15th overall.
- Molloy remained in sixth after two days of action heading into Sunday.
Day Three – Best of Seven Baker
- The Lions opened bracket play against Caldwell, falling to the Cougars in four straight games.
- Molloy moved to take on Bloomfield. After falling behind three games to one, the cardinal and white made a furious comeback to take down the Bears, 4-3, to move into the final stage of the afternoon against Wilmington.
- The Keglers would fall to the host school, 4-0, to finished sixth in the tournament.
Up Next
The Lions will have some time off the lanes before returning to host the Lions Roar for National Cancer Society Tournament. The two-day event is scheduled to start Saturday, March 4 at Garden City Lanes.
