Staten Island, N.Y. - The men's and women's indoor track and field programs returned to action at the Big Apple Classic at the Ocean Breeze athletic facility.
Leading the Lions' performance was a record-setting mile time from senior
Kristi Ackerina, who ran the distance in a time of 5:22.24 to finish in 16th-place.
The women's program also saw personal-bests from junior
Christina Hillery (28.71) and sophomore
Sarah Nagamootoo (31.75) in the 200-meter, freshman
Jadalyn Rodriguez (1:06.15) in the 400-meter, junior
Samantha Latorre (1:23.75) in the 500-meter, and senior
Maureen O'Callaghan (2:34.50) in the 800-meter.
For the men's squad, the middle distance runners all had personal-best performances including sophomore
Eric Anderson (1:08.35) and freshman
Christian Canela (1:08.64) in the 500-meter, freshmen James Nicol (2:44.39) and Matthew Rathje (2:58.12) in the 1000-meter, andjuniors
Eric Palencia (4:42.08) and
Frank Ferrante (4:42.69) in the mile.
Molloy will compete for the 2022-23 East Coast Conference Championship on Sunday (Feb. 19) at the Ocean Breeze athletic facility at 4:00 p.m.
