Seaford, N.Y. - The women's rugby team returned to the pitch for the first time since the 2019 season, competing against SUNY New Paltz in two seven's contests.
In the first game, New Paltz was the first on the board with a try, but had an unsuccessful conversion kick to set the score at 5-0.
Jemimah Paul answered with a try for the Lions, but the conversion kick from
Kimmie Williams was also unsuccessful, knotting the score, 5-5.
Kristen Regan kicked off the second half with another Molloy try followed by a successful conversion from Williams to put the home team in front, 12-5.
Isabella Persaud rounded ou the scoring with a third try to set the score at 17-5 in favor of Molloy when time expired.
Williams scored two tries for Molloy to kick off the second game, giving the Lions a 10-0 lead. In the second half, New Paltz knotted the score with two tries of their own. The visitors scored a final try in the final minute to earn a 15-10 victory.Â
The Lions will return to action on Sunday (Oct. 2) at Fordham.
