Seaford, N.Y. - The women's rugby team concluded the 2019 season in a 27-12 loss to Long Island University. The Lions end the season with a record of 3-4. During the contest, the program recognized seniors
Maddie Howell and
Colleen Elliot in a senior day ceremony.
How it Happened
- The contest was played in three 20 minute games of 12 vs. 12 action.
- The Lions took the first contest, 7-5 with senior Kaitlyn Snyder scoring the team's first try before junior Olivia Sturiano added a conversion.
- In the second game, freshman Kimmie Williams put the maroon and white on the board in the final three minutes, but the contest went in favor of the Sharks, 12-5.
- Molloy was unable to find the try zone in the third game.
Top Performances
- Snyder and Williams scored the lone try's for the maroon and white.
- Sturiano went one-of-two on conversion kick attempts.
- The Lions maintained a 16-6 advantage in scrum wins while the Sharks led 5-4 on line-outs.
- Defensively, Molloy was led by graduate student Keisha Hoskins with 12 tackles. Sturiano and Snyder tallied nine and eight, respectively.
