New Castle, Del. - The women's bowling team started off the 2022-23 campaign with an impressive showing at the Bud Whitman Memorial Tournament, hosted by Chestnut Hill College. The Lions went 8-2 over the course of the two-day tournament, with a total pinfall of 9,046 pins and an average of 177.4
Day One - Traditional Format
- Molloy began the season with a definitive win over Wilmington University, 947-850, including games of over 200 from both freshman Emily Kulkarni (220) and sophomore Hannah Skalacki (204).
- The Lions continued to knock down the competition through the remainder of the day, topping Kutztown, 871-823, Pitt-Greensburg, 868-641, and Caldwell, 897-795.
- In the final match of the afternoon, the cardinal and white faced the toughest opponent in #11 Mount St. Mary's. Molloy squeezed by with a 930-923 victory in part to 200-pin performances from junior Amanda Scarfogliero (212) and Skalacki (201), to remain undefeated.
- On the afternoon, Scarfogliero led the Lions with 223 pins in the victory over Caldwell.
Day Two - Baker Format
- The strong start fed into the second day of competition where the format shifted to Baker, where five players are responsible for two of the 10 frames in each game.
- On the stength of back-to-back cames of 214 and 210, Molloy was able to edge Delaware State, 915-910.
- The keglers had a high-game of 246 en route to a 912-750 victory over Howard before earning a second victory over Chestnut Hill onthe weekend, 895-778.
- In the final match before the championships, the Lions suffered the first loss of the season, falling to Coppin State, 873-844.
- Squaring off with Wilmington for the tournament title, Molloy bowled games of 193, 159, 149, 155, 140, and 171 but ultimately fell to the Wildcats, 4-2, to claim second-place.
