West Babylon, N.Y. – The ECC released their weekly award winners and Molloy had multiple winners in both baseball and softball. For baseball, senior outfielder
Matt Overton won Player of the Week and freshman outfielder
Garrett Scavelli secured Rookie of the Week. For softball, freshman infielder
Chrissie Huhn nabbed Rookie of the Week and senior pitcher
Courtney Greene was tabbed to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Overton had an outstanding week batting .542 with 13 hits, two of which were doubles. He had seven runs scored and six RBIs, one of which was the walk-off RBI single to defeat STAC 13-12 after being down 10-2 earlier in the game. Against D'Youville on Sunday (April 25), he went 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Scavelli continued his impressive freshman campaign, compiling a .476 average on the week with ten hits, three of which were doubles and one a triple. He scored eight runs and five RBIs along with stealing four bases.
On the softball field, Huhn kept up her impressive first-year season with a .688 average with 11 hits and two or more hits in each contest on the week. Huhn also stole two bases and had three RBIs.
Finally, Greene was tabbed to the ECC Honor Roll. In the circle, she threw 21.2 innings with three complete games and 14 strikeouts. She only allowed one hit in the team's 3-0 win against STAC on April 25. In the batter's box, she drove in five runs and also hit her team leading fifth home run of the season.
Softball will be back in action on Tuesday, April 27 when they face Queens at home at 3:00 p.m. Baseball will be back on the field on Friday, April 30 when they travel to Bridgeport to face the Purple Knights at 3:00 p.m.
