Pomona, N.Y. – Three members of the Molloy baseball team drove in at least three runs Wednesday afternoon, led by senior
Sean Serrano who plated a career-high five to lead the Lions to a 16-11 triumph over the Dominican University Chargers at Clover Stadium. The Lions pick up their 16
th straight victory improving to 25-7 on the campaign, while the Chargers move to 15-24.
How it Happened

- Molloy used a pair of long balls in the top of the third to put together a six-run frame to take a 8-0 lead. After junior Mike Sweeney led off with a triple, junior Brian Sanchez stepped up to the plate and connected on the first pitch he saw for a two-run home run over the right field fence.
- The cardinal and white loaded the bases later in the frame, setting the table for Serrano to unload on a pitch and send it over the right-center field fence for a grand slam to cap the six-run inning.
- The top of the fourth belonged to senior Sean Welsh, as he led off the inning with a walk before stealing both second and third. The senior would cross the plate later in the inning following a wild pitch to extend the lead, 9-0.
- Dominican got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning, putting together four runs following a pair of doubles and a sacrifice fly to shrink the deficit to five, 9-4.
- The Lions got one back in the sixth after sophomore Steve Mulqueen roped a double to plate a run to set the score at 10-4.
- The Chargers continued to fight back, responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to come within four, 10-6.
- The road team continued to stay hot at the plate, answering with three runs in the top of the seventh. Sanchez ripped a double down the right field line to score two before coming around to score following a single from Welsh to open the lead to seven, 13-6.
- The cardinal and white regained its eight-run lead, 14-6, in the eighth after Marsillo drove in senior Jack Coogan with a sacrifice fly.
- Molloy had one more long ball left in them in the ninth after Welsh connected for a two-run shot to give the Lions their biggest lead of the afternoon, 16-6.
- Dominican would not go down easy, rallying for five runs in the bottom of the ninth to come back within five, 16-11, with two outs, but it would end there as the Lions ended the contest with a fly out to clinch the victory.
