Box Score Clearwater, Fla. – The softball team closed out its appearance at the NFCA Division II Leadoff Classic with a loss to  Wayne State University, 6-0.
 
How it Happened

• The Warriors were on the board first, taking a 1-0 lead on a ground rule double by Rachelle Clayton in the second inning.
• Molloy put runners on second and third in the home half of the inning in senior Tara Byrnes and freshman Alex Burns, but were unable to plate a run to knot the score.
• Wayne State doubled its lead in the third inning on a double from Bryanna Kressler.
• After two scoreless innings, the lead increased to 5-0 on RBI singles and triples for Wayne State.
• Trailing 6-0 after an RBI single in the top of the seventh, the Lions were retired in order to end the game.
• Sophomore Courtney Greene went 5.2 innings in the loss, striking out one.
• Burns led the maroon and white with two hits with Greene and senior Kaitlyn Snyder recording hits as well.

The Lions return to Florida for the PFX Spring Games March 9. The team kicks off the tournament against Georgian Court at 11:30 a.m.
