Castleton, Vt. - The women's rugby team returned to action after a two-week hiatus, handing the Spartans of Castleton University a 59-10 defeat. The contest included three 20 minute games, all 10 v. 10. This is Molloy's third-straight win, bringing the team to 3-2 on the season.
Game One
- The Lions controlled the offense from the start, taking a 10-0 lead after the first half on conversions from sophomore Kaitlyn DeMaio and junior Olivia Sturiano.
- Senior Kaitlyn Snyder and freshman Kimmie Williams each found the try zone in the second half to set the score of the first game at 20-0.
Game Two
- DeMaio and Snyder each added their second tries of the day while graduate student Keisha Hoskins scored one of her own to give Molloy a 15-0 advantage.
- Snyder tallied her third try of the game before the Spartans scored in the finals seconds of the game, giving the Lions a 20-5 victory.
Game Three
- Senior Madison Howell scored with 1:28 remaining in the first half to put the maroon and white on the board.
- A try from Sturiano and a successful conversion kick from sophomore Aubrey Kelley set the score at 12-0 in favor of the visitors.
- Castleton got on the board to open the second half, but Sturiano scored her third try of the afternoon to give the Lions the 19-5 victory.
