SEAFORD, N.Y. (Sept. 3, 2017) – The women's rugby team started the 2017 season with a deafening 32-0 victory over LIU Post at Cedar Creek Park in a sevens contest.

The Lions kicked off the scoring at 6:39 of the first half as junior Siobhan Coady (Floral Park, N.Y.) carried the ball across the try line. Freshman Olivia Sturiano (Merrick, N.Y) scored her first collegiate try a minute later to double the score. The first half ended with a conversion kick and a second try from Coady to put the Lions up 17-0.

Sturiano added her second try of the day with 2:10 left to play in the game to put the maroon and white ahead 22-0. Coady scored two tries in the final 45 seconds to round out the 32-0 score.

Molloy continues the 2017 campaign next weekend as they head to Fairfield, Conn. to face Sacred Heart University at 10:00 a.m.
