The East Coast Conference released the results of the 2025 Volleyball Preseason Poll earlier this afternoon. Molloy was predicted to finish in fifth-place according to the league's coaches, receiving 19 points.
The Lions placed fifth in 2024, going 5-7 in league play and 14-12 overall. The team will return 10 members from last year's squad and will look to fill holes left by graduation at a number of positions with the addition of four newcomers, three true freshmen and one via the transfer portal. The cardinal and white will also see a familiar face in a new role in 2025, with Associate Head Coach
Steve Woessner taking over as the program's Head Coach for the 2025 campaign.
The league's coaches predicted a repeat of the 2024 playoff picture. Runner-up Mercy was chosen first with 40 points and two first-place votes. Defending champions D'Youville followed with 38 points and three first-place votes. Daemen (37) and Queens (36 with two first-place votes) rounded out the top four.
Molloy was tied with Roberts Wesleyan for fifth-place with each school earning 19 points. St. Thomas Aquinas completed the poll with seven points.
The Lions begin the 2025 season at home on Friday, September 5, hosting both Belmont Abbey (3:00 p.m.) and Wilmington (7:00 p.m.) in a tri-match. League play kicks off in upstate New York at Daemen (1:00 p.m.) on September 27. The 2025 ECC Volleyball Championship is scheduled for November 21-22 at the highest seed.
