About the Lions
- This is Molloy's fifth appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last eight seasons and the first time since 2022.
- This season, the Lions played nine contests against NCAA Tournament teams, the third-most of any team in the East portion of the bracket. Molloy picked up two wins over Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Champions Bridgeport, but had losses against Adelphi, American International, Bentley, Gannon, and Mercy.Â
- Senior Aria Miller ended the season as the East Coast Conference leader in digs (390) and digs per set (4.11) to help her earn the unanimous title of Libero of the Year.Â
- As a program, Molloy received more All-Conference nods than any other ECC school with six. All six selections were the first All-Conference selections in their collegiate careers. In addition to Miller (First Team), graduate student Julia Zalta (First Team), senior Ilaria Micol Chiericati (Second Team), junior Erin Stanley (Second Team), sophomore Isabella Rios (Second Team), and freshman Haven Trechter (Honorable Mention) earned the honor.Â
- Molloy's First Team selections, Miller and Zalta, were also named All-Region by the Division II Conference Commissioner's Association (Miller, Second Team) and American Volleyball Coaches Association (Zalta, Honorable Mention).
- Zalta enters the NCA A Tournament ranked 13th in Division II nationally in service aces per set (0.78) and 20th in total aces (55).
- As a team, Molloy ranks 40th in the nation in opponent hitting percentage, limiting their opposition to just a .151 clip while the Lions attack at .207 as a team.Â
- 12 of the 27 games this season have gone past 12 sets. In those 12 contests, Molloy has a 9-3 record. The team has gone an event 2-2 in five set matches this season.Â
Regarding Mercy
- The Lions hold a 32-27 all-time record against the Mavericks, but have fallen in each of the three contests held this season, including the ECC Championship Game for the automatic bid to this tournament.Â
- The title was Mercy's first since the 2001 season.
- Mercy is appearing in the NCAA Tournament for the third-straight season.
- As a team, Mercy received four All-ECC Selections: Gabriela Bieniek (Player of the Year), Adriana Rivera Rodriguez (Setter of the Year), Grace Dilena (First Team), and Mia Illes-Hair (Second Team) to go with head coach Ana Todorovic earning Coach of the Year laurels. The trio of Bieniek, Rivera Rodriguez, and Dilena were also announced as First Team selections by the AVCA while Dilena and Bieniek earned All-Region recognition from the D2CCA.Â
