Trechter Named Rookie of the Week; Five Tabbed to Honor Roll

For the first time in her career, freshman Haven Trechter was named the East Coast Confernece Rookie of the Week announced by the league this afternoon. In addition, graduate students Julia Zalta and Danu Kinsella Bishop, senior Aria Miller, and juniors Elyse Muñoz and Erin Stanley were named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
 
Trechter averaged three kills per set in a 1-1 week for Molloy. The freshman reached double-digit kills in both contests, putting up a game-high 11 kills in a 3-0 victory over Queens before adding 10 against Southern Connecticut. The California native also averaged over two digs per set on the week to go with two service aces and a block.
 
Zalta averaged 7.00 assists per set this week for the Lions, topping 20 in both of Molloy's contests on the week. On top of her role as a facilitator, Zalta also averaged over two kills per set. The graduate student had a double-double against Southern Connecticut with 13 kills and 26 assists and added six digs. In conference play, she had 23 assists to go with two blocks and three kills against Queens.
 
Kinsella Bishop accounted for the Molloy offense this past week. The senior netted Molloy's game-tying goal in the 72nd minute at Mercy before tallying a pair of goals against St. Thomas Aquinas on Saturday. To cap the week, Kinsella Bishop totaled six points on three goals with 10 shots, five coming on goal.
 
Miller continued to be a reliable presence at libero for the Lions, averaging 4.57 digs per set in a 1-1 week for Molloy. The senior put up 16 assists against both Queens and Southern Connecticut State, while adding a season-high five service aces against the Knights.
 
Stanley led the Lions offense with 26 kills in a 1-1 week. The junior averaged 3.71 kills per set, reaching double digits in both contests with 10 kills in a 3-0 sweep of Queens in conference play before setting a career-high 16 kills against Southern Connecticut State. The outside hitter also added three blocks during the week. 
 
Muñoz picked up a pair of wins in goal for the Lions. On Tuesday against Pace, Muñoz made a pair of saves to help secure Molloy's 2-1 victory. On Saturday against St. Thomas Aquinas, the junior was forced to make one save to secure her fifth shutout of the season.
