Emma Beattie was named the Defensive Player of the Week for women's soccer, graduate student
Danu Kinsella Bishop was tabbed the leagues Offensive Players Week for men's soccer, and graduate student
Julia Zalta earned Setter of the Week for women's volleyball. Additionally, junior
Elyse Muñoz was named to the Weekly Honor Roll.
Beattie netted Molloy's game-winning goal in the Lions' 2-1 victory over Daemen on Saturday. The graduate student totaled two shots, both coming on goal while playing all 90 minutes and helping the back line of defense limit the Wildcats' offense to four shots on goal.
Kinsella Bishop was the catalyst for Molloy this week, accounting for all four of the Lions' goals where the squad posted a 1-1 record. The graduate student netted the Lions' goal on Tuesday against Southern Connecticut State before tallying a hat-trick against Daemen on Saturday. Against the Wildcats, Kinsella Bishop scored three goals on four shots in 80 minutes on the pitch. To cap the week, the Dublin, Ireland native collected eight points on the back of four goals, five shots on goal in seven shots taken, and played 170 out of a possible 180 minutes.
Zalta continued to be a picture of consistency across the court for the Lions, averaging 4.92 assists and 2.25 digs per set while also averaging over one kill and block per set. The graduate student had a double-double with 17 assists and 17 digs in a conference win over St. Thomas Aquinas College, where she also served up six aces. The setter had another double-double at Adelphi with 24 assists and 13 digs while adding a career-high six blocks.
Muñoz made three saves to help guide the Lions to a 2-1 victory on Saturday over Daemen. The Molloy women's soccer team has now won six of its last seven contests as they enter the final week of their conference schedule.
