Newark, N.J. - It was another successful Saturday for the Molloy cross country teams at the Highlander Invitational, hosted by New Jersey Institute of Technology. The women's team earned a total of 44 points and had three runners finish in the top-10 en route to a second-place finish. The men's team earned 131 points to finish third.
For the second-straight week, senior
Kathleen Healy led the way, running to a fifth-place finish with a personal best time in the 5k at 18:33.7. Sophomore
Carli Sheiffele (18:42.9) and senior
Marie Naudus (18:52.3) also set new best times and both finished inside the top-10. The Lions also saw PRs from freshmen
Martina Mileti (19:23.6) and
Anelisa Fulgieri (20:40.7) as well as senior
Alaysia Cobb (19:44.3). Freshman
Melissa Joseph made her collegiate debut this afternoon with a time of 21.28.3.
On the men's side, freshman
Anthony Baldasano also topped the Lions for the second-straight week with ak 8k time of 26:32.9 and placing seventh. Junior
Peter Bagattine (27:32.2), seniors
James Nichol (27:45.0) and Matthew Rathje (29:56.1), freshmen
John Abad (28:14.9), Mikai Marks (28:57.0), and sophomore
Jake Stassi (31:05.6) rounded out the scorers for Molloy. Nichols' time marked a new career-best. Freshman
Christopher Diaz (32:27.3) and sophomore
Gabriel Adimoolah (32:28.3) both set new PRs as well.
Next up for the cardinal and white will be the East Coast Conference Championship on Saturday, October 25 from Sunken Meadow State Park in Kings Park, N.Y.
