Box Score Patchogue, N.Y.- The women's tennis team picked up its first win of the 2024 season this afternoon, defeating the Eagles of St. Joseph's College by a score of 6-1. The Lions improve to 1-6 (0-2 ECC) and the Golden Eagles drop to (1-3).
In doubles, the senior Elena Baughman-Saunders and freshman
Erin Sanchez secured a strong 6-1 victory over Morgan Wind and Madisyn Beatty. Sophomores

Isabella Fortaleza dominated in their match against Jess Paul and Rose Roupoli, finishing with a 6-0 score in the second spot. In a tightly contested third spot, freshman
Ashley Bonilla and sophomore
Julia Salazar edged out Amanda Andree and Amalia Augustine with a 7-5 win.
In singles action, Sanchez, Fortaleza, and Fartushynska all defeated their opponents in straight sets. Bonilla fought hard, but ultimately fell to Amanda Andree with a final score of 6-7, 6-4, 7-10. Gunnip delivered a strong performance against Rose Roupoli, finishing 6-0, 4-6, 11-9. Salazar claimed the Lions' last victory with a score of 6-1, 7-6 against Amalia Augustine.
The Lions will host Dominican University on Thursday (Oct. 3) at 4:00 p.m.
