Amherst, N.Y.- The women's tennis team faced off against Daemen University this evening, falling 7-0 to drop to a 1-9 overall record (0-4 ECC) as they head into the final week of the regular season. Daemen improved to 6-4 (1-3 ECC).

In doubles play, senior
Elena Baughman Saunders and freshman
Erin Sanchez fought hard at #1 doubles but fell to Frida Rubio and Bella Bjerkan 6-3. The #3 pair of freshman
Ashley Bonilla and sophomore
Julia Salazar managed to take one game but would lose 6-1 to Stephanie Baier and Carly Armitage.

In singles action, Saunders and Sanchez fought similar battles, both coming up short 6-2, 6-1 in their respective matches. Sophomore
Isabella Fortaleza pulled out two games in her match against Yinett Del Leon, while sophomore
Alice Fartushynska fell 6-1, 6-1 to Carly Armitage.

The Lions wrap up the 2024 season tomorrow (Oct 12) against D'Youville University in Orchard Park, N.Y. The match is set to start at 4:00 p.m.
