Box Score Sparkill, N.Y.- The women's tennis team opened East Coast Conference play with a  7-0 loss to Saint Thomas Aquinas College this afternoon. The Lions fall to 0-4 (0-1 ECC) and the Spartans improve to 1-0 on the season.
 
In doubles, sophomores Alice Fartushynska and Isabella Fortaleza delivered a strong performance in the third spot, claiming three games but ultimately falling 6-3 to Ombeline Robilliart and Sun Zhuoxuan. The duo of senior Elena Baughman Saunders and freshman Erin Sanchez fell 6-1 in the top spot to Anaya Brons and Elita Silins.
 
In singles play, Sanchez, Fartushynska, and Baughman-Saunders all managed to win a game within their sets, with Sanchez taking one game in both of hers.
 
The tennis team will be back in Oceanside, N.Y. to host Queens College on Saturday (Sept. 21) at 1:00 p.m.
