Mahwah, N.J. - The men's outdoor track and field team took home first-place, earning 116 points, at this past weekend's Ramapo College Invitational. The Lions set three school records and saw five event wins in the effort. The women's team tallied 30 points, finishing in ninth-place.
Molloy was led by junior
Eric Palencia winning the 10k race, setting a new program-record of 32:49.55. Freshman
Emmanouil Paravalos won the 400-meter race with a personal-best time of 50.37. He was followed by sophomore
Christian Canela in second-place with a time of 50.77.Â
The success of the 400-meter racers carried into the relay team of Paravalos, Canela, and juniors
Juan Arango and
Eric Anderson, winning the event with a time of 3:24.56. The 4x800-meter ream of freshman Peter Baggatine, juniors
Matt Floyd and
Aiden Watson, and sophomore
James Nichol also took first-place with a time of 8:19.90. The final relay team, the 4x100-meter grouping of Arango, Paravalos, senior
Gianni Macchio, and
Stanley Louis set a program-record time of 42.58 seconds.
The men's top performances was concluded in the field events, as freshman
Jurrel Hall set a program-record in the triple jump with a first-place leap of 14.36 meters.
On the women's side, junior
Faith Rousseau came in second-place in the javelin, throwing a distance of 32.16 meters. Freshman
Marygrace Coll set a new personal-best in the triple jump at 10.27 meters. Finally, senior
Megan Sohl set a personal-best time in the 800-meter at 2:25.64.Â
The Lions return to action on Saturday (Apr. 6) at the Wilton Wright Invite hosted by Southern Connecticut State University at the James Moore Field House in New Haven, Conn.
