Box Score Oceanside, N.Y. - The women's tennis team celebrated seniors Camilla Caballero Abreu and Noor Goyvaerts prior to today's match against D'Youville.

The contest got off to a positive start with the Lions sweeping all three doubles matches to earn the point for the first time this season. The tandem of junior Maggie Kutner and freshman Isabella Fortaleza started off with a 6-1 win before Caballero Abreu and freshman Alice Fartushynska clinched the point with a 6-3 victory. Goyvaerts and junior Elena Baughman Saunders  rounded out doubles play with a 6-2 decision.

The Lions had a gritty afternoon in singles play, with four of the six matches going to tie breaking sets. Fortaleza secured her second-straight singles victory in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2. Freshman Julia Salazar was in front 6-3 in sixth singles before dropping the second set, 6-1, to force a tie breaker. The freshman edged out a 5-4 victory to give Molloy its third point of the afternoon. Caballero Abreu, Goyvaerts, and Kutner each went to a third set but were unable to secure victories. 

Molloy concludes a three-game home stretch on Monday (Oct. 16) against Adelphi University at 2:30 p.m. from Sportime Hempstead Lake.
