Box Score Oceanside, N.Y. - The women's tennis opened the final home weekend of the season against Daemen University, falling 5-2 from Point Set Racquet Club.
The Lions were swept for the doubles point, but the tandem of junior
Maggie Kutner and freshman
Isabella Fortaleza had a valiant effort in third singles, forcing a tiebreaker.
The freshman's day ended on a positive note with a victory at six singles, 6-3 and 6-2.
The Lions' remaining point came at first singles from senior
Camilla Caballero Abreu, 6-3, 6-1. Senior
Noor Goyvaerts once again forced a tiebreaker set in her singles match but was unable to pull out the point.
Both Goyvaerts and Caballero Abreu will be celebrated before the team's next match tomorrow (Oct. 14) against D'Youville in a senior day ceremony.
