Gabriella Aspuru was named the East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, and head coach
Joe Pellicane earned Co-Coach of the Year honors, which was announced Friday. Aspuru and graduate student
Safiyyah Lee were tabbed First Team All-ECC.
Aspuru, who was the Defensive Player of the Year and has been All-ECC Second Team two times, is second in the conference in blocks (50), third in points per game (16.7), fifth in steals (49), and 10
th in assists (75).
Lee, who earned Second Team honors in 2021, is second in the league in field goal percentage (50.2), fifth in blocks (41), sixth in rebound per game (8.5), and ninth in points per game (13.3).
Pellicane, who has been named ECC Coach of the Year eight times, guided the Lions to a 16-9 overall record and a 13-5 mark in league play. The maroon and white ranks second in the NCAA in blocked shots per game (6.2).
