Box Score 2 Rockville Centre, N.Y. - The women's volleyball team opened the 2021 season with losses to both the University of Nebraska-Kearney and Wilmington University this afternoon from Quealy Gymnasium to fall to 0-2.

How it Happened
- After falling behind 4-1 to start the contest, the maroon and white fired off five-straight points to take a 7-6 lead. The score would be tied eight additional times, including as late as 25-25 before the Lopers rallied for back-to-back kills to take a 27-25 set victory.
- The visitors took a 9-2 lead to start the second set. Molloy would come within seven, 17-10, later in the contest on consecutive kills from freshman Rebecca Meier before Nebraska-Kearney took a two-set lead.
- The teams were evenly matched to start the third and final set of the afternoon session, with the score knotted 9-9. The Lopers would take eight of the next 10 points to take a 17-11 lead. The maroon and white would come within four, 20-16, before the visitors ultimately swept the contest, 3-0
Top Performances
- Molloy was led by 10 kills from Meier, who attacked at a .333 clip.
- Graduate student Kassie Akouri Tejedor added 25 kills, nine digs, and one service ace.
- Graduate student libero Emily Meyer also added nine digs while sophomore Chye Davis topped the squad with six blocks.
- Senior Graciela Cruz rounded out the Lions' top scorers with eight kills.

Top Performances
- Akouri Tejedor tallied her first double-double of the season with 30 assists and 18 digs to go with seven kills in the night cap.
- Both Davis and Cruz also put up seven kills in the effort.
- Meyer recorded 15 digs to go with a team-high four service aces while adding two assists.
- Junior Kathleen Doherty also reached double-digit digs with 11.
