Box Score Wilmington, Del. - The women's tennis team fell, 5-2, in the second day of its opening weekend road trip at Goldey-Beacom at Del Castle Tennis Center. 

How it Happened

• The day kicked off with a doubles win for freshman Julie Riedel and sophomore Hannah Niggemeier, 6-2. The Lightning would take the next two doubles contests however, 6-3 and 6-0 to win the doubles point for the match.
• Riedel fell in her first game at first singles, 6-3, but rallied for a hard-fought 7-5 victory to force a tie-breaker. The Austria native took the tie-breaker, 10-5, to earn the singles victory and a 2-0 day.
• Freshman Alyssa Baur also forced a deciding game, rallying after a first game defeat (6-3). The Germany native won the second game, 6-4, before winning second singles with an 11-9 tie breaker. 
• The maroon and white fell in the additional singles rounds in the loss.

Molloy will open up East Coast Conference play next Friday (Sept. 24) against D'Youville College at 3:00 p.m. from Eisenhower Park.
