Box Score Worcester, Mass. – The men's basketball team fell to the Greyhounds of Assumption College this afternoon at Laska Gymnasium, 96-63. The Lions fall to 0-5 on the season with the loss while Assumption improves to 4-1.
How It Happened
- Freshman Darren Fergus netted the first five points of the game for the road team to set the score at 12-5 with just over 15 minutes left in the first half.
- A layup from junior Frankie Phelan brought Molloy within five, 17-12, before the Greyhounds pulled in front on a 12-2 run to lead 29-14 with under eight minutes to play.
- Phelan and senior Steven Torre sunk back-to-back layups to end Molloy's first half scoring before the home team took a 47-27 lead into the locker room.
- The Lions put together a 13-6 run to open the half to set the score at 53-40 with 15 minutes remaining, featuring nine points from Fergus.
- A 15-0 run from the home team sealed the contest with eight minutes to play, putting the Greyhounds in front 73-44.
- Assumption shot an impressive .545 in the second half en route to the 96-63 victory.
Top Performers
- Fergus topped the Lions in both points (16) and rebounds (7), going 5-of-6 from the field, while adding three assists.
- Redshirt sophomore Kendell Ogilvie tallied nine points to go with two steals
- Phelan compiled a final line of eight points, four rebounds, and three assists.
- Junior William Muller also added three assists while pulling down six boards and adding five points.
- Junior Colin Brady recorded two blocks.
