Flushing, N.Y. - The women's tennis team spent the weekend competing at the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) East Regional Championship at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center. The maroon and white had two student-athletes advance to the main tournament after all competed in the qualifying round. 

Freshman Hannah Niggemeier played a tough match against Bijisha Shrestha of fellow East Coast Conference school Roberts Wesleyan College, eventually earning the 8-6 victory to advance.  She was joined by senior Montaine Le Goupil Maier, who picked up two victories - first defeating Katarina Lopez of St. Thomas Aquinas College, 8-3, before topping Areej Fareh of Post University, 8-1. 

Senior Samantha Bloecker and junior Sarah Moehrlein each had hard-fought bouts, each resulting in tiebreaking sets. Bloecker eventually fell to Gabrielle Soriano of the University of the Sciences, 9-8, while Moehrlein was defeated by Alma Garcia Valle of Goldey-Beacom College, 9-7. 

In the main draw, Le Goupil Maier and Niggemeier were both eliminated, falling to Andrea Ribalta (6-1, 6-3) of Wilmington University and Selin Seyfettinoglu (6-0, 6-2) of Southern New Hampshire University, respectively.
