Fairfield, Conn. – The women's bowling team took second-place at the annual Bowl for a Cure Invitational, hosted by Sacred Heart University. On the afternoon, the maroon and white went 3-2, featuring victories over two nationally-ranked programs, setting the Lions' season record at 9-6.
How it Happened
- Molloy started the afternoon with a re-match of last week's contest against #3 Adelphi University. Once again, the match came down to the final bowler, and the Panthers walked away with the close 852-834 victory.
- Against LIU Post, sophomores Mackenzie Wagner and Christie Warmingham had fantastic outings, knocking down 200 and 193 pins, respectively, to lift Molloy to an 881-838 win.
- The Lions next faced #19 LIU Brooklyn, where junior Jennifer Bisogno downed 209 pins. Coupled with 195 from Warmingham, the maroon and white clinched an 881-872 victory.
- The battle against tough opponents continued against the eighth-ranked Cougars of Caldwell University, with Molloy coming out on top, 854-809.
- The maroon and white ended the day against the host Pioneers of #12 Sacred Heart. Despite top performances from Wagner (222), junior Alyssa Doto (202), Bisogno (196), and Warmingham (192), SHU topped Molloy, 1000-987.
- In junior varsity competition, the freshmen tandem of Allison Burfeindt and Amanda Kreush clinched doubles play.
Coach's Comments
"We are very proud of what we have been able to accomplish so early in the season," remarked head coach
Dr. Robert Cincotta. "We have received consistent play from our upper classmen and our freshmen are following their lead. We are looking forward to next weekend at Caldwell University, where we will face nine nationally-ranked opponents.
